Join Us ofr Worship & Baptisms This Sunday in the Sanctuary at 10 am (September 25, 2022)

We have the joy of baptizing two of God’s children during our worship service this Sunday – Luke and Bria Miller (Joan and John Miller’s grandchildren). Rev. Will will reflect with us on the broadening of “familial” bonds that baptism creates in the church.

And speaking of familial bonds, we also remember our Jewish siblings who begin their high holy days on Sunday evening. Jane Ring Frank offers an introduction to the anthem the choir will sing: The “ten days of repentance” or “the days of awe” include Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur and the days in between, during which time Jews meditate on the subject of the holy days and ask for forgiveness from anyone they have wronged. The choir’s anthem, “Mi Shebeirach,” is one of the primary Hebrew prayers for healing, asking God to restore and strengthen the body, mind, and soul, most often during Shabbat and High Holy Day services.

This is the first Sunday in Epiphany. The season when we find out who Jesus is. Epiphany means manifestation. We’ve celebrated His birth and witnessed His naming and His circumcision. But now we get to learn who Jesus is. That begins at His baptism which is the gospel text for this Sunday. Luke has his own perspective on the event and we will try and unpack some of it. We are still featuring special Christmas carols that we missed on Christmas Eve. The choir will sing “What Child is This?” from Rejoice! Remember that covid mitigation includes keeping some windows open, so dress accordingly. Again, we ask people to be masked and to maintain a safe distance. Listening to your own heart, you can decide to join us in person or over the livestream. However you join us, we begin at 10:00 a.m. and hope you’ll be there.

Join Us for Worship & a Baptism This Sunday at 10 am (February 16, 2020)

Join us for worship this Sunday at 10 am when we have the joy of baptizing another child of God – Kasey Nordstrom – and continue worshiping in the context of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. The choir has a beautiful rendition of Psalm 121 – I Will Lift Up Mine Eyes – to lift up our spirits and we’ll have an opportunity to lift up our voices in praise, prayer and song on this blessed mid-winter weekend.
