Second Wednesday Bible Study

On the second Wednesday of each month a few of us gather for Bible Study. The group is led by Pastor Judy and varies in number and composition but it is always congenial and faithful. The approach to scripture is not as something we were “supposed” to know all about; rather something that holds God’s words and meaning for our lives. Sometimes we struggle with the first century meaning and seek to translate it into a 21st century context. This coming Wednesday the scripture will be Matthew 11. We will gather by Zoom at 7:00 and end promptly at 8:30.

This 4-week on-line study during the season of Advent 2020 will invite us to take a deeper dive into the scriptures that reveal the story of the Incarnation of God which we celebrate at Christmas. We will explore the meaning of incarnation, the odd lineage of Jesus, the fantastical nature of angelic hosts, and what it all has to do with our own lives. What better time to take a deeper dive into the meaning of Christmas and seek what it has to offer us here at the end of this difficult and tumultuous year? Please sign-up HERE. Summertime and the Bible is Easy

If you are around this summer, we hope you will join us for Bible Study each week before worship. We meet from 9 to 9:40 in the Music Room and this year we will be looking at several stories from the Hebrew Scriptures. Our study guide will be the “Serendipity Bible for Groups”, which includes interesting questions about the Scripture texts, as well as questions designed to help us make connections between the stories in Scripture and our own life stories. No prior knowledge of Scripture is required to join this study. And, it’s fine if you can’t come every week. Come when you can and enjoy! Family, friends and guests are always welcome to attend.
