Please join us for an inventive and exciting evening of chamber music featuring three of Boston’s most compelling performers, pianist Sarah Bob, violinist Gabriela Diaz, and percussionist Aaron Trant. From blues to jazz to inventive contemporary music, these three superstar musicians defy the traditional borders of classical music with a diversity of compositional voices.

Between disability, races, nationalities, genders, and genres on this program of eclectic composers, what sort of preconceived notions exist for the listener? Does one have certain expectations from a female composer? From a blind composer? From a contemporary African composer? From a 19th century British composer of color? Composer Lei Liang believes that composing is “a way to free oneself from the artificial confines of cultural identity, a means to challenge perceived borders and convenient labels.” Come hear what diversity sounds like, strikingly delivered by three vital and exciting performers.

From a solo violin strut to a smoky piano ballad dedicated to Billie Holiday, from a gorgeous, lyrical 19th century violin/piano ballade to an uncorked rhythmic battle between piano and percussion,  this concert program is sure to surprise and delight.

“Unsafe (At Any Speed)” for piano and percussion by Roshanne Etezady (b. 1973)
