Naomi Burhans will sing with Rev. Will to gather us together and Maggie Keeler will lead a Time for the Young. A special thank you to the choir who has rehearsed a modern arrangement of a Gospel song favorite, “I’d rather have Jesus.”

 

Jesus’ sermon on the Plain is the morning scripture. There are at least two sermons in the text, one comforting and one possibly discomforting. But, we are blessed to have Rev Judy’s reflection and a meditation lead by members of Health Ministry to help us discern this challenging text.

The first Sunday of February offers the opportunity to start the month with the Sacrament of Communion. Sharing bread and juice on Zoom is a declaration that Christ’s life continues among us. The scripture, Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, a well known wisdom text, will be heard and experienced in a virtual walk through the seasons of the Reno Garden. In our collective time of solitude, we hope these words and the garden’s beauty will open us to hear the echoes of eternity that the Lord has set in each of our hearts. And, then together pray that this season will bear fruit in our lives and for those we love, especially those we cannot be with.

 

Following the service members are invited to take part in the Annual Budget Vote by staying on Zoom. Concurrent with the church budget vote on its own Zoom link will be a “Time with the Young. “ Jake Greenberg and Kathleen Zagata will lead a brief discussion with activities about the scripture, Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 and our current Covid-19 season.
