Our annual Maundy Thursday to Good Friday Prayer Vigil is quickly arriving and we’d like to invite you to sign up for a time slot to maintain prayer in the sanctuary from 9pm Thursday night through 12pm Friday (April 2-3). For those who have not participated before, an hour in the quiet and darkened sanctuary is a powerful way to remember Christ’s passion and death, to pray for the life of this troubled world, to participate in a communal round-the-clock prayer and to prepare oneself for the coming celebration of Easter. Please consider signing up for an hour.

Gather with us in person or through livestream as we share in the Last Supper that Jesus had with his disciples before his death and then listen to the story of the Passion according to the Gospel of John as candles are extinguished and we gradually descend into the darkness with Him. At the end of the service, we’ll depart in silence as the 15 hour overnight vigil begins.

Maundy Thursday/Good Friday

If you haven’t already, you’ll want to experience our beautiful Maundy Thursday service at 7:30 pm on Holy Thursday either in person or on livestream. We share in the Last Supper and read the passion story while candles are extinguished and we fall into the darkness of the night together as we acknowledge the dying way of Jesus. Then begins our vigil through the night and to Good Friday where people from our church community will hold the space in prayer around the clock. At the end of the vigil, 12pm on Friday, we will have a brief closing service to mark Jesus’ death and share experiences of the previous night.

A reading of Jesus’ passion by the Deacons of the church with special music from Susan Navien and Peter Owens. This will be a pre-recorded service but we encourage you to watch at 7 pm on Thursday evening.

Tenebrae Service

Tonight at 7 pm find a darkened room in your house and listen with us to the story of Jesus’ passion from the Gospels of Matthew, Luke, and John. The sacred words will be read by your Ministry Team and Deacons with special music by Jeffrey Mead and Peter Owens.

We hope this presentation will deepen your experience of Holy Week as we remember Jesus’ suffering and death, offered out of love for a broken and hurting world.

Then on Friday at noon we will gather on Zoom – go here – for an interactive but prayerful closing Good Friday Service. We hope these services will help you experience the depth of Holy Week in preparation for the celebration of Easter.
