This Sunday is Palm Sunday and the beginning of Holy Week. We will gather with the kids at 9:40am in the sanctuary for a lively Blessing of the Palms with the Jazz Band and then enter into our formal service at 10am. The choir will offer us two anthems as we consider Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem and Peter’s denial of him in the High Priest’s courtyard. We’ll hear from the recipient of our Easter Offering, Plummer Youth Promise, and light our lenten prayer candles one final time. We hope you can join us on-site or online.

Palm Sunday Worship

Come! Begin Holy Week with a festive Palm Parade out on the Town Common at 9:15am on Sunday morning. Then we’ll have our traditional Palm Sunday worship service in the sanctuary and live-streamed at 10am. Palm fronds will be had by all and we’ll begin the service in celebration of Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem, share in Communion – with Rev. Maeve Hammond consecrating the elements for the first time! – and then hold our last prayer candle lighting of Lent before we shroud the cross and prepare the space for Holy Week. We hope you’ll join us for this beautiful service that holds both the excitement and the sorrow of the days to come.

Join Us for Palm Sunday Worship at 10 am in the Sanctuary (April 10, 2022)

Join us this Sunday out on the Town Common at 9:15am for a Palm Parade and Celebration and then in the sanctuary at 10am for our traditional Palm Sunday worship service. We’ll move from Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem to a pivotal moment in the passion story, often passed over, when another man named “Jesus” briefly enters the story. Given the fact that all 4 Gospels carve out a place for this encounter, maybe it holds more significance than we imagine. Join us on Sunday to find out more!

Celebration of the Palms This Sunday April 10, 2022

At 9:15 we will gather on the Town Common to experience our own version of Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem. We will hear the scripture story of this day that marks the beginning of Holy Week. Following a palm strewn path, we will sing and wave our own palm branches. This joy and hope are genuine as Jesus comes on a humble donkey, signaling the movement from power that comes from wealth and position to a world where the last shall be first and love and humility are the signs of power. This outdoor gathering will provide families an opportunity to come together and celebrate both the waning virus and the rising triumph of love.

Join us this Sunday for Palm Sunday on-line for a zoom worship service to begin Holy Week. Ideally you will have dropped by the church for palm branches on Saturday and will bring those to your worship space and together we’ll celebrate Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem even as we acknowledge what awaits him down the road at Golgotha. Jake Greenberg will lead the children (and all kids at heart) in a little Palm craft and we’ll end the service in silence by shrouding the altar table in black in preparation for the Good Friday Vigil.
