Multigenerational Service-Learning Experience June 2026

FCCW is returning to Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota in June 2026 for a multigenerational service-learning trip. We will work with Re-Member staff & volunteers to make life better for residents of the reservation, while learning about the culture and history of the Lakota people.


When: June 27 – July 3, 2026

Where: Pine Ridge Reservation, SD 

Who: Anyone 14+

Cost:  $800 trip fee + travel*

*We hope to reduce the cost through fundraising & donations. Scholarships are available.


Serve

  • Build bunk beds,  outhouses, stairs & wheelchair ramps
  • Install skirting on mobile homes 
  • Tend community gardens

Learn

  • Participate in a nightly cultural program including Lakota speakers, singing and dancing, & games,
  • Hike into the Badlands National Park 
  • Visit museums, the tribal college, artisans & more

Grow

  • Learn from the stories from indigenous leaders
  • Reflect together on the day’s work
  • Build relationships with the Oglala Lakota people 
  • Deepen your relationship with God

Trip Details

Pine Ridge Service-Learning Trip Information Zoom Session on Wednesday, October 8th at 7:00 PM! ​ Paula Sibal, Re-Member Volunteer Coordinator, will give us an overview of what we can expect during the service-learning trip. Then we’ll go over FCCW trip details and answer questions.

  • Volunteer Groups are limited to 14 individuals
  • Registration Deadline: Nov 1, 2025

 

Trip Costs

The total per-person program fee is $800 (not including travel expenses). We hope to reduce this cost through the support of Outreach and fundraising. 

Because we are limited to 14 volunteers, a deposit of $320 is due at the time you register or no later than November 1, 2025. The deposit is non-refundable. However, if you cancel and we are able to find a replacement to fill your spot, we will issue a refund.

Please Venmo or submit a check payable to First Congregational Church with “Pine Ridge Trip” in the memo.

*Scholarships are available for both youth and adult participants. Please contact Maggie Keeler or Rev. Maeve Hammond if you would like to request a scholarship.
