Children are always welcome in the sanctuary! We appreciate the sounds of babies among us and hope that parents will not be too anxious about keeping their babies quiet. If you’d prefer, there is a professionally staffed nursery on the floor beneath the sanctuary, which welcomes babies and toddlers. A certified preschool teacher is there each Sunday morning with help from a small group of our warm and nurturing high school students. Our nursery, like all of our classrooms, is a peanut-free zone.
Pooh’s Corner is a cozy spot at the back of the sanctuary, with a rocking chair and quiet toys for little ones and their parents. Crayons and a children’s bulletin are always available also—just ask a greeter.
The Family Room is a comfortable room with sofas, chairs, changing table, a water bubbler, and a video link to the service for when you need more room to attend to your family. It is located just outside the doors to the right of the front chancel area.
Stepping Stones is our weekly Sunday School for children in pre-K through 5th grade. We begin together in the sanctuary with our families, and then head off to our classrooms with the teachers after the Time for the Young (a part of the worship service for younger children).
Throughout the year the class we cover stories from the Bible. In the fall we talk about the Old Testament. In winter we learn about Jesus’ ministries, and during the spring we study the New Testament. Each class is taught by a team of dedicated volunteers who love and nurture our children. There are a variety of activities such as high-energy games, crafts, plays, and other creative ways to interact with the stories.
