Our youth program has a lot of new happenings this year, and we hope your family will connect to as many activities as it can. Our overarching theme for this year is “Listening to God’s Call.” Please note that we don’t want anyone to miss out on any activities because of money. We have many scholarships and funds to help pay for or offset costs for those that may need a little help. Feel free to reach out to Jake if there is a need.
Sunday Mornings 10-11:15 AM
We begin Sunday mornings in the sanctuary to worship together as one church family. After the Time For The Young (a part of the service for younger children) we head to our classes. The Middle School grades meet as a large group to hear the lesson and then break up into two smaller groups for discussion over a snack. The class ends by 11:15, which is typically the same time the service ends. Students then head downstairs to coffee hour in Chidley Hall to meet their families.
This year’s curriculum is based off of Max Lucado’s book You were Made to Make a Difference, which ties scriptures into our day-to-day lives. The goal of the youth classes is to support students as they figure out who they are and what they believe in. We will learn about rites of passage and social justice, as well as the two Holy Sacraments of communion and baptism. We will also have some “off campus” service events out in the community.
Stepping Stones classes for Grades Pre-K through 5th
Stepping Stones is our weekly Sunday School program. This fall we will be learning about Samuel and David. We will begin each week (except for the first Sunday of each month) in the sanctuary and leave for our classes after the Time for the Young. Read more about Stepping Stones…
This year all of our high school and middle school youth will be offered a time to learn and study the bible and how it relates to our lives today. Each week of the month will be a slightly different offering which allows the youth to participate any time they are available.
Sunday Nights, 7:30-9 PM
Forum is our weekly high school youth group. We play some games, bond with each other, and discuss moral and spiritual issues. Read more about Forum here.
We are always looking to add some adults to join the youth program. We have opportunities for assistant teachers for Stepping Stones, small group leaders for the youth programs, second adults for Forum and other activities, chaperones for mission trips etc. There is always some way to connect with the youth. We encourage each adult to find a way to do one or several events with the youth. You will find that your faith grows as your help others learn more about who they are and what they are made for.
