In the midst of this tense election season, we must work to meet “the other” as one beloved of God for whom Christ died. Loving our neighbors as ourselves takes practice and disagreeing in ways that honor the dignity of others is a skill to be learned. Toward that end consider joining us for “Disagreeing Well” in the Palmer Room on Mondays in October.
Rev. Nathan Barczi — MIT Chaplain and Pastor at Christ the King Presbyterian Church in Newton — will lead a three-session interactive workshop focused on nurturing “intellectual hospitality.” Participants will practice constructive dialogue techniques and deepen their empathic listening skills. The curriculum is developed by the Ideos Institute, as presented in the documentary Dialogue Lab: America. The series will take place in the Palmer Room on three Monday evenings from 7 to 8:30 PM on October 7, 21, and 28.
Please sign up here if you can attend so that we can give Rev. Barczi a sense of numbers. While it is not required to attend all three sessions is highly encouraged as the sessions do build upon one another and culminate towards a final dialogue. Reach out to Rev. Will or Sarah Gallop with any questions.
