Last week in worship we engaged the Letter of James and considered his challenge to be conscious of how our words can bless or curse, heal or hurt. This week James continues to challenge us with words of wisdom around our unchecked desires while we hear of Jesus’ disciples arguing about which of them is the greatest. Amazing how 2000 years later the impact of unchecked human desire is as pronounced as ever. Kimmerer’s invitation to “practice contentment” is a good one for this age.
