During the month of January, the Open Doors Working Group is hosting coffee hour after church each Sunday. Instead of taking the long and complicated trek down to Chidley Hall, we are setting things up at the back of the sanctuary, which is a little more compact a space, but convenient and welcoming, so we hope you will join us there.
While you are there, you will be able to look over a few posters which give a snapshot of what the Open Doors Working Group is engaging in as we try to understand how God is calling us to use our church buildings into the future. In the next few weeks we will share these posters with you in this all-church email, one each week, so you can read and have a chance to think about what is going on. We are really interested in your feedback and questions – please use the not-very-elegant shoebox at the back of the church or email or talk to any of us at any time.

Week 1: Why Now? In this first slide, we try to give the background as to why this work is so important now. We struggle to maintain this large building and are looking for how to be good stewards of the structure, while making it a strong physical base for the ministry and mission of our congregation. Many of us love our building and want to protect and preserve it, while we acknowledge that there is more of it than we need and can properly care for. We are looking to use it better, more efficiently and even more productively. We see this process, currently spearheaded by ODWG, as an opportunity for us all to listen for God’s voice calling us forward. We hope you will share in this journey with us.
