Roots and Branches begins again soon. It’s time to sign up for our third season!
For each of the last two years we have had about fifty people participate in these small discussion groups, building friendships, having fun and probing areas of faith. We are looking forward to picking up again soon.
This year we are going to base our discussions on the prayer that is known by Christians everywhere – the Lord’s Prayer. Why do we say it so often? What is lurking in there that makes it so important? We are going to take a completely fresh look at it. We have created 8 sessions, with themes such as ‘Give us this day our daily bread …. The Kingdom of God cares for the whole person’ and ‘Lead us not into Temptation … The Kingdom of God keeps us spiritually honest’. We hope that this series will provide thoughtful discussions that inspire us in the living of our lives and also enable us to see more each time we say the words of this oh so familiar prayer. We are calling our series A Prayer for the Kingdom.
Roots and Branches groups will meet mostly in homes, though there will be one hybrid group at the church (with options for people to join via zoom). As last year, they will be at a variety of times and locations – day time, evening, mid-week, weekend – so you can sign up for what suits you. Typically groups meet roughly every 3 weeks, though individual group schedules are flexible, depending on the needs of their members.
