I am president of the En Ka Society and am really hoping we can turn this into a longstanding, well-attended Winchester tradition. So many towns have a Thanksgiving Road Race and I am hoping Winchester can be the next one! We had our first race last year but since it was virtual, it kind of feels like this is our first. We need 250 people to run for the town to let us even hold it in person 🙏. We have just had our second year without our biggest fundraiser, the En Ka Fair and given the service work we do; the pandemic has made the need even greater. We opened our En Ka Food Pantry a year ago and the response has been amazing. We also have a resale clothing shop to help those in need, we have a Social Service team who give financial support to those in the Winchester community who have urgent needs such as:
In addition, we give over $60k back in grants to our community each year to help support projects that address the needs of students and youth, the elderly, the physically and mentally challenged, and non-profit organizations devoted to providing community enrichment, and health and social services.
We have supported and will continue to support the families in Winchester that need help, and this is a fun way our community could support En Ka. It is a 5k and anyone can walk, run or trot! It might be fun to have a church team walk/run together! There will also be sock/underwear drive for our Pantry this year. We hope to make this a long-standing Winchester tradition and we appreciate any support.
Respectfully,
Kate Carpini
