  • NAMI Family to Family Course

The course provides family caretakers with education about mental health conditions, skills workshops, and information about available resources. The NAMI Family-to-family curriculum includes:

    • Information about mental health conditions and treatments
    • Coping skills, handling crisis and relapse, local and national resources
    • Listening and communication techniques
    • Problem solving, limit setting, self-care

Most importantly, the course offers family members the invaluable opportunity of open conversation and mutual support in a stigma-free environment. Course participants, now more than 400,000 people nationwide, find that the Family-to-Family experience empowers them to understand and pursue paths toward healthy recovery for their loved ones, their families, and themselves.

Happy that I found NAMI Mass 17 years ago or so . After several of my most wondeful years participating in NAMI Mass Family Support Group I was ready to give back to others .I was ready to share my experiences.I was ready to take the NAMI Mass Family to Family teacher training .

In addition to NAMI Support Group I share a memory of my own very first NAMI Mass Family to Family class.I was so happy at the end of my very first Family to Family class many moons ago to

meet others like myself who where desperate and struggling about how to help their loved one who lived with a mental illness and how to continue on to help themselves. I thought I was the only one .

I am most grateful to be able to co- teach the NAMI Family to Family 8 week educational course.
