TAIZÉ WORSHIP: The Light Returns
Taizé chants + prayers + Scripture

Live in-person from the stunning Ripley Chapel at First Congregational Church, Winchester. As we welcome the return of the light and the coming Summer, please join us for a joyful and poignant service, featuring the ecumenical prayers and gorgeous musical chants of France’s Taizé community. All denominations are welcome.
This simple service – of prayer, poetry, silence, candle lighting, and SINGING – is modeled after the rich and beautiful Taizé tradition. Our ministers will guide us in blessing the light; voice, violin, cello, flute, guitar, and piano will lead glorious songs and chants, as a meditation on and a celebration of the season of light.
What is Taizé? Simply put, a small village in France, near to Lyon. The Taizé community is a uniquely ecumenical monastic order with a strong devotion to peace and justice through prayer and meditation. The 100-strong community of Roman Catholic and Protestant monks is drawn from 30 countries across the world.
As the Taizé community tells us,
“To open the gates of trust in God, nothing can replace the beauty of human voices united in song. This beauty can give us a glimpse of heaven’s joy on earth. An inner life begins to blossom within us.”

IMPORTANT NOTE: Ripley Chapel can be found at First Congregational Church, Winchester, 21 Church St. The entry to the building is located on the Vine Street side of the church. Please use the accessible ramp entrance, and Ripley Chapel will be directly to your right as you enter the building.
