Noël: A Lush and Engaging Concert of Carols & Songs, scored for Voice, Piano, Accordion, Whistle and Pipes

Please join us for an intimate and unique program of seasonal music, featuring Ensemble Noel, a quartet comprised of some of Vermont’s most cherished musicians: soprano, Julie Ness; pianist, Annemieke Spoelstra McLane; accordionist, Jeremiah McLane; piper/whistler, Timothy Cummings.

This unique program, “Noël,” is filled with music from Medieval chant to the Pifa (or Pastoral) from Handel’s “Messiah,” from French carols to Poulenc, from Celtic melodies to fresh settings of traditional carols – all arranged by the creative “Ensemble Noel,” with their roots in traditional, classical, world and improvisational music.

Although based in Vermont, the performers of Ensemble Noel are world class, with ranging talents and vast resumes. Julie Ness, soprano, is a versatile professional of the opera and concert stage; Annemieke Spoelstra McLane, piano, was born in the Netherlands and is a lauded soloist and collaborative pianist; Jeremiah McLane, accordion, has released over 35 recordings and is a respected teacher and interpreter; Timothy Cummings, pipes/whistler, is a widely sought-after piper and whistle player who offers an uncommonly diverse repertoire, including music from Scotland, Ireland, Cape Breton, Brittany, and Appalachia. He has a rare grasp of arranging and composing music for the pipes.

The concert is free and open to the public, although a free will offering will be available and appreciated. The concert will be followed by a warm reception and an opportunity to greet our performers.

For more information about the concert, please contact Jane Ring Frank, Minister of Music and Worship Arts at 857-919-0983.
