  • SUMMER READ: Caste by Isabel Wilkerson

Isabel Wilkerson gives us a masterful portrait of an unseen phenomenon in America as she explores, through an immersive, deeply researched narrative and stories about real people, how America today and throughout its history has been shaped by a hidden caste system, a rigid hierarchy of human rankings. She examines different caste systems around the world and unpacks how they damage the lives of everyone involved, from the highest to the lowest. It is brave, clear and shatteringly honest in both approach and delivery. It contains a powerful mingling of narrative, research, and visionary, sweeping insight by the author.

Many of the congregation have read Caste and found it extremely enlightening. A limited supply has been provided as a gift from an anonymous church family and are available in lobby area by the church office.

We plan to gather on September 12th to share thoughts and learnings from Isabel Wilkerson’s work.
