Worship this week will focus on John 4:5-42, the familiar story of the Woman at the Well, the SAMARITAN woman at the well. This Sunday’s scripture follows on John 3:16 – a verse that many say summarizes the whole gospel: 16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.” And Jesus directly goes to Samaria and tells a Samaritan woman about the Living Water of the love of God. To those reading in John’s time, the immediate engagement with a Samaritan would have been a shocking realization that when Jesus referred to the world that meant even those Israel felt superior to. We hope you can join us for worship to explore this text, to pray, to sing and to let the beauty of the choir’s singing wash over you.
