  • Winter Walk

God’s presence is in the small, the meek, and things we might not see in our busy lives…and we learn to follow Jesus when we come alongside those the world may too often overlook.

A few FCCW folks are participating in this year’s Boston Winter Walk on Feb 12th. The Winter Walk is an initiative to raise awareness and funds to help end homelessness in our communities. It’s a two mile walk around the Boston Common and Boylston Street and ends by sharing breakfast and stories. The Winter Walk is a way to show those who experience homelessness that we see them and that we care.

We are lobbying them to consider moving this walk to another time than Sunday morning going forward, but if you would like to join our group, here is what to do:

    1. Go the Winter Walk website (www.winterwalk.org) and press the register button.
    2. As you proceed through registering, you will see a chance to join a team. Search for our team by the team name (First Congregational Church Winchester) or the team captain (Betsy Goodell)
    3. Complete your registration as part of our team!

Walkers will meet at the church at 8AM Sunday February 12th to carpool together and we will be back at FCCW by 11:30.

Here’s a list of their partners to give you a sense of how they help and distribute the money raised. All funds go to these groups. Common Cathedral where our own Rev. Lisa Loughlin ministers, is one of the partners of Winter Walk.

We hope to raise at least $1000 for these groups that are there for those who need a good meal and a warm bed.. All ages are welcome (including dogs!). If you can’t join the walk, you can also donate by searching for First Congregational Church Winchester as a team name or Betsy Goodell as the team captain. Thank you!.
