Twenty-one members and friends of First Congregational Church in Winchester are going to Puerto Rico from August 4 through August 11 with a group called Experience Mission. They will be lending a hand to a local community near Dorado to help in the rebuilding effort. The devastation to Puerto Rico from Hurricane Maria last year, the gravely inadequate response from our country to the disaster as well as terrible missteps of Puerto Rican officials well before and after the hurricane have created a perfect storm, so to speak, to submerge this American territory into deep crisis. Our church’s response of sending its Pastor, Rev. Will, and 20 others for a week of rebuilding is admittedly a small offering but still an act that we believe our faith requires of us and we trust that whatever we offer others in love, God can multiply for an abundance of good. Please keep our little group in your prayers (names listed below) and know that we are representing all of First Congregational as we serve there.
Participants: Tracy, Will and Augusta Claire Burhans, Roger Marian, Joe, Marianne, and Russell Carter, Lisa Loughlin, Jodie and Candace Mullane, Doug Taylor, Andy McKinley and Maria Fernando, Sue Howland, Alex Rohall, Liz and Dick Sayre, Caroline Reynolds, Lillie Cazayoux, Grace Casey, and Tom Khal.
