It is hard to believe that the lazy days of summer are drawing to a close. I am very excited to begin my fifteenth year at the church, and I look forward to another year of collaboration with the choir, Carilloneers, children, ministerial team and congregation of this thriving community.

We have had a rich summer of music at the church, and I want to thank all of the volunteers who have collaborated with Todd Gordon, our summer staff musician. So many of you generously share your time and talents, and it is a true gift. Thank you.

Each year, I issue a sincere and open invitation to join the senior choir (middle schoolers and up!). So this year, with a nod to David Letterman, here are my top reasons to join:

Top 10 Reasons for Joining the Choir

1. We laugh a lot. Really.
2. We share a love of music.
3. We care about each other
4. Even if you are rusty or have been away for a long time, you are welcome!
5. We pray together.
6. We laugh a lot. Really. (And often at me).
7. We are diverse in age and stage and respect one another.
8. We express our faith through the preparation and sharing of music.
9. We honor the worship service and enjoy the privilege of participating.
10. We laugh a lot. Really. God hears our prayers and smiles with us.

The Carilloneers continue to ring with joy and abandon and I am pleased to work with the group again this coming year. If you are interested in ringing the gleaming handbells, feel free to contact me. We meet on Monday evenings, and our schedule is fluid and accommodating!
