We continue our sermon series on the fruit of the Reformation and the traditions, practices and beliefs that are woven throughout our religious life. This Sunday we will look at Number 62 of the 95 theses Martin Luther nailed to the Wittenberg church in 1517. “The true treasure of the church is the most holy gospel of the glory and grace of God.” This came to be summarized as “sola scriptura” – only scripture – in contrast to the Holy Tradition of the Roman Church which rivaled the Bible as the source of God’s word. Only scripture – sounds simple. Is it?
