"Joy, sorrow, tears, lamentation, laughter -- to all these music gives voice, but in such a way that we are transported from the world of unrest to a world of peace, and see reality in a new way, as if we were sitting by a mountain lake and contemplating hills and woods and clouds in the tranquil and fathomless water.”  Albert Schweitzer (1875-1965)

It is hard to believe that these lazy (and very hot!) days of summer are drawing to a close. I am excited to begin my twentieth year at the church, and I look forward to another year of collaboration with the choir, organist, soloists, Carilloneers, Ripley Presents roster, youth, ministerial team and congregation of this thriving community.

This year, at a significant time of rebuilding and remembering those who are no longer with us, because of death, illness, circumstance, moving, I want to issue a sincere and open invitation to the whole congregation: you are welcome to JOIN THE SENIOR CHOIR (middle schoolers and up!!). With a nod to David Letterman, here is my Top 10 list of reasons for joining the choir:

    10. We laugh a lot. Really.

    9.     We share a love of music.

    8.     We care about each other

    7.   Even if you are rusty or have been away for a long time, you are welcome!

    6.   We pray together.

    5.   We laugh a lot. Really. (And often at me).

    4.   We are diverse in age and stage and respect one another.

    3.   We express our faith through the preparation and sharing of music.

    2.   We honor the worship service and enjoy the privilege of participating.

    1.   We laugh a lot. Really. God hears our prayers and smiles with us.

The CARILLONEERS ring with joy and passion, and Jeffrey Mead will re-gather the group in the Fall. If you are interested in ringing the gleaming handbells, feel free to contact Jeffrey or me. The group meets on Monday evenings, and the schedule is fluid and accommodating!

Senior Choir Rehearsals are held regularly on Thursday evenings, beginning on September 8, 2022, 7:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary Chancel. Bring your masks (Resonance or KN95) and your good cheer. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me either by e-mail: jringfrank@gmail.com or by telephone: (857) 919-0983. Remember – you can also leave a message for me at the church.

I can’t wait to see you and wish you blessings as we re-gather in God’s name for another vibrant church year.
