Join us for soup and chapter 2 of “Trouble the Water: A Christian Resource for the Work of Racial Justice”. How can we become more conscious of our own assumptions, blind spots and privileges around race and how can that better enable us for building God’s beloved community?

Chapter 2 is written by Ben Sanders entitled “How did ‘We’ Get ‘Here'” and seeks to explain how we got to the current situation of racial injustice and white supremacy that marks our country so deeply. Sanders challenges the reader to question what we even mean by “we” and “here” and claims that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is distorted by how we’ve interpreted the “we” of who we are and the “here” of what we call our country.

We are keeping these sessions to one hour, eating soup while a chapter is read for about 20-30 minutes and then an informal discussion of what we’ve heard. We hope you’ll join us.
