This Sunday, we conclude the Sermon on the Mount reading Matthew 5:38-48. Jesus continues to teach parts of the Hebrew Scriptures interrupting them in the light of his mission among us. The text includes some very familiar sayings, “an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth” for example. A line we often misuse, stopping at ‘tooth’. Jesus reinterprets this directive urging us to “turn the other cheek”. The choir will be singing an anthem: Ring Out, Wild Bells, an Alfred, Lord Tennyson text set to music by Gwyneth Walker. Health Ministry will continue its 40 day challenge in coffee hour. We hope you will join us.
